First training session at our new venue

Genryukan Aikido has started training at the new venue at the Clarendon & Westbury Community Centre.

It has been very successful with an excellent turnout, about 20 people, thanks to the support of Gowaryu, Mushin-no-shin and Katsujinken dojos. Their presence was very appreciated.

The session was mainly geared toward freeplay so we could test-drive those mats properly, and simply to have a bit of fun!

We would like to thanks the Dover Bushido Judo club for letting us use their mats.

New black belts!

Congratulations to Phil Eyers and Eoin Kerrigan who passed their grading at the ZETAR national examination, earning their Shodan (1st dan).

Congratulations also to Jonathan Pieterse and Matt Drinkwater (from Gowaryu Aikido dojo) for getting their 2nd kyu.

We are all proud of the guys’ achievement.

Finally,  a massive welldone to Greg Barton (Shoshinkan dojo) who received his Godan (5th dan).

Christmas party!

In conjonction with Gowaryu Aikido and other local clubs to be confirmed, members of Genryukan Aikido are invited for a Christmas party in Folkestone.

It will be held in Folkestone, on Saturday 5th Dcember 2009.
We’ll meet for a drink between 7 and 8pm, then we’ll make our way toward a chinese restaurant, followed by more beverages to wash it all down.
